Diamond Girl Jacket

Now that school's out, I've had a chance to go through some of my clothes, and I was able to fill a large garbage bag to donate! I did set aside a few things to hopefully transform into something fun! I have this diamond sweatshirt that I bought from Kohl's a million years ago. I love it, and I wore it a few times, but it just didn't have that wow factor that I was looking for. I was thinking it would have a better life as a jacket.  Uh oh....That means a zipper........................ My diamond sweatshirt ready to be transformed! I found a zipper....yikes! I started by cutting off the cuffs of the sweatshirt because I was going to make my own. I wanted them to be a bit longer, but also more comfy. I chopped the hemband as well. Then I found the middle of the shirt and cut right up the front!  SNIP! I could have stopped here and made it a groovy cardigan, but I really wanted a jacket. I made some cuffs and a hem band out of so...

Momma needs a New Pair of Shoes

Have you ever started a project, sorta get bored/blocked/forgot about it- only to start a new project half way through the other one? Me too.      This project started many months ago (about 10)  this past summer in 2016 when my family and I took a road trip to Niagara Falls and Toronto. I knew I wanted to bring a road trippin' project on our travels, but I couldn't make a decision on the perfect project. A pair of decorated shoes seemed to be a fun idea so I brought along a pair of cheap-o sneakers, some embroidery thread, needle and fabric markers. I really didn't have a solid idea of what I wanted to do. I just sorta went for it! I thought I'd get my feet wet (no pun intended) with the embroidery, so I started easy and on an easier area like the tongue of the shoes. A little pink stripe will be nice! I embroidered that pink stripe on the other shoe, then, with snacks,  a nap, a coupla pit stops, and before I knew it,  4 hour...

BUN HAT!

My gal pals and I have had a tradition for a couple of years now, to scour some thrift stores and then have a nice dinner. We bask in the glory of our thrift scores, talk about everything, and enjoy each other's company! This time it involved delicious margaritas! Needless to say, it was a delightful time, and I'm so glad we have this tradition. One of my thrift scores this year was this straw hat for $1.99 I love hats on a sunny day, and I love to wear my hair up and out of my way, but hats and buns usually don't go hand in hand.  But, I think I figured out a solution! Can't beat that price! I just snipped a hole in the top of my new hat, and really that was it! I wasn't too worried about the hat fraying, but if it does, I'll put a bit of clear nail polish on the edges.  That should do the trick! I'm ready for Spring, Summer, pool days, backyard shenanigans...you name it! I think we could get the "Bun Hat...

I've Been Keeping It Real!

Winter is not my favorite season.  I usually want to curl up in a blanket watch movies and eat popcorn.... I still have been doing that, (I make the best popcorn by the way).  I also have accomplished a few things in the past 3 months.  I've also sewn TON! I'll give you the run-down: I have spent time with my family At the beginning of December, I became a Zumba instructor! Whew! I did it! I'm working on making some pullovers for my new Zumba side-career... Oh yeah, one other thing: I also graduated with my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership!!!!  Yup! 2 years of hard work and we are done!!! Wahoooo! I wanted to make it special and memorable, so for our last class, I made a dress for myself, matching bow ties for the Gentleman, a pocket square for our instructor, and scarves for the ladies. It was a great matchy-matchy ending to the past hard working two years! Now that thing...
