My beautiful daughter took this picture of this less than beautiful dress. I thrifted it for a few dollars a long while back. I picked apart the skirt andplaced a pants pattern in its place. Picked off the sleeves and cuffs. Whole lotta sleeves! Extra fabric to make a sash belt. I found the center of the cuffs and pinned it for reference. You will see what I do with them! Bias tape around the sleeves and attached the cuffs. Check out the sleeves! Its actually the cuffs! I love my new romper! See you next time!

Got a plain black T? Make it fancy by embroidering some letters or pictures on it! I picked my word: RESFEBER Definition:  The restless race of the traveler's heart before the journey begins. We are planning a summer trip, and I'm gearing up for just a carry on for the plane!  No time for baggage claim!  But I gotta be stylish ya know? I measured out how big I wanted the letters to be and  sectioned them off in equal parts with some chalk. Let the stitching begin! I did a basic chain stitch for all the letters.  This is when the thread is doubled and you stitch up through the middle  of the previous stitch creating a "chain" look. I'm ready to go! I really like the way the v-neck highlights the placement of the word. The house-dress of all house-dresses! Velour, long, comfy, all the things right?! It is a fantastic thrift store find, but I'm not quite ready to be catapulted into my 80's lounging in a velour housedress....well maybe I am. BUT NOT TODAY! This pretty royal house-dress is getting a great big snip right at the bottom! I made a pattern that was 14"x 18".  Then I rounded the corners to create the shape I wanted. I picked off that ruffle collar, and picked out the zipper. I had this really cool boat fabric I picked up last summer at an estate sale. I'm turning the bottom of this house-dress into a soft and fuzzy backpack!  cut out: 2 Velour, 2 Lining, 2 Interfacing Interfacing ironed to the wrong side of the lining. Bottom pieces. Embroidery is pretty hot right now in the fashion world, and I'm jumping right on that trendy train! I was shopping at one of my favorite stores....you know the one.... it has a big red circle and a dot in the middle...yep, that one! Anyway, I saw this purse that was marked down to $10.48. Yesss!  Nearby in the jewelry section there were embroidered patches for around $6. I scooped one up that I liked. I love cranes. They're so beautiful! This patch had an adhesive backing, but there was no way that sticky backing was going to last on the vinyl purse. I had to break out the fabric glue. I peeled off the protective backing, put a generous amount of fabric glue on it, and  stuck that puppy...errr...crane right on! Let it dry overnight. Boom! A new custom purse for  $16.48! Ya know what goes well with a new purse? NEW SHOES!!! I did the same thing to these slip-ons that I got at the same store for $7.48! YA! SEVEN ...
