Embroidery on Everything!

Embroidery is pretty hot right now in the fashion world, and I'm jumping right on that trendy train!

I was shopping at one of my favorite stores....you know the one.... it has a big red circle and a dot in the middle...yep, that one!
Anyway, I saw this purse that was marked down to $10.48. Yesss!
Nearby in the jewelry section there were embroidered patches for around $6. I scooped one up that I liked.

I love cranes. They're so beautiful!
This patch had an adhesive backing, but there was no way that sticky backing was going to last on the vinyl purse. I had to break out the fabric glue.

I peeled off the protective backing, put a generous amount of fabric glue on it, and
stuck that puppy...errr...crane right on!

Let it dry overnight.

Boom! A new custom purse for  $16.48!

Ya know what goes well with a new purse? NEW SHOES!!!
I did the same thing to these slip-ons that I got at the same store for $7.48!
YA! SEVEN DOLLARS!!! WOOT!

I ordered the patches from an online store, and I was ready to beautify my new shoes.

The patches were too big for the front of the shoe, so I CAREFULLY trimmed off some leaves.

Have no fear! I glued the extra leaves to the back of the shoe!

Gluey Glue-ing for shoe-y shoe-ing

I'm ready to wear!

You might have seen this purse already in my previous post....

See you next time!

Graduation Gown not just for Graduates Anymore

This discarded, and loved-no-more graduation gown was calling to me from the thrift store rack. It was perfect for this time of year when teachers say goodbye tearfully to some, and not-so-tearfully to others.  But we love them all anyway.  Heeeeey!  Over here!  Buy me and give me a new life!! So I did. Sally liked the dress much better once I picked off those sleeves! She thought it was a perfect resting spot. I chopped the bottom a bit, folded it twice because it was fray-fray-central, and I hemmed it all up.  I could use the chopped off bottom piece as a belt  or use an existing one.  Choices.... The dress is all white so this time, I decided to go with a darker brown belt,  and some metallic sandals. Congrats and good luck  to all the 2015 graduates!  I'm ready for the ceremony! See you next time!

Red Romper Red Romper

My beautiful daughter took this picture of this less than beautiful dress. I thrifted it for a few dollars a long while back. I picked apart the skirt andplaced a pants pattern in its place. Picked off the sleeves and cuffs. Whole lotta sleeves! Extra fabric to make a sash belt. I found the center of the cuffs and pinned it for reference. You will see what I do with them! Bias tape around the sleeves and attached the cuffs. Check out the sleeves! Its actually the cuffs! I love my new romper! See you next time!

Dia de Los Muer-nksgiving!

Look at this awesome fabric! Check out the website where I bought it  HERE  It's just perfect for a Dia De Los Muertos dress! It's going to be perfect! I'm so glad I bought it in August, so I will have plenty of time to create and wear it before Halloween!  (Can you hear the sarcasm) .....time just slipped away.......  I was still going to make the fabric into dress, because I just loved it so!!!!   I decided to buy a pattern. A real pattern online!  A printable file that I had to put together, and decipher all by myself!  I put my mind to it and decided to go for it! I found one that I liked on www.burdastyle.com  You can check it out  HERE I originally wanted to make it with long sleeves,  but I didn't have enough fabric. Shorties will have to do! I kept putting it on and taking  it off to try to get the best fit. This was a long process. Too big in the shoulders, too long in the torso, and I had to veer away from the pattern
