Dia de Los Muer-nksgiving!

Look at this awesome fabric! Check out the website where I bought it  HERE  It's just perfect for a Dia De Los Muertos dress! It's going to be perfect! I'm so glad I bought it in August, so I will have plenty of time to create and wear it before Halloween!  (Can you hear the sarcasm) .....time just slipped away.......  I was still going to make the fabric into dress, because I just loved it so!!!!   I decided to buy a pattern. A real pattern online!  A printable file that I had to put together, and decipher all by myself!  I put my mind to it and decided to go for it! I found one that I liked on www.burdastyle.com  You can check it out  HERE I originally wanted to make it with long sleeves,  but I didn't have enough fabric. Shorties will have to do! I kept putting it on and taking  it off to try to get the best fit. This was a long process. Too big in the shoulders, too long in the torso, a...

Art Teacher Dress #3 :The Crayola Dress

This is a pillowcase that I found for about $0.50 at Goodwill. It was half price day! I knew that I didn't want the pillowcase, but that crayon patch was the BOMB!!! I promptly plucked that patch from it's home on the pillowcase, and propelled it towards a new life! Does anyone know where this could have come from? It was hand sewn onto the pillowcase. It looks like it had a previous home attached to something else. Someone took good care if it. Here's the back in case you were interested. I bought this strapless dress on half price day as well.  I originally got it for the fabric, to make a scarf or tote bag.... but something spoke to me! I knew what I had to do! I set my machine for fancy stitch #14, and sewed that puppy on my green tube dress. Off center, and asymmetrically of course! Who wants a crayola patch right in the center?  Not this girl! Sewed it on!! The temperatures here are less than desirab...

90's T-shirt Dress

I found this thick, soft, and comfy awkward dress at my favorite Goodwill for a three dollars.  It was half price day. YAY! Anyone else think these pockets are placed...uh..strategically?  Thanks for takin' my picture babe! My kid rules! Do you like the black socks? Here's a close up of the weird pockets. Those pockets gotta go! I picked them off with my trusty seam ripper! Look closely to see the cool flowery print. Bye Pockets! I asked my daughter what else I should do to this dress. She promptly replied, "Momma, you should dye it violet." being an art teacher and all, I was so impressed that she said violet and not purple, so how could I refuse. "That is a fantastic idea Olivia." I told her. So, I dyed it violet. Remember the print you had to look really closely to see? Well, the best thing happened.... When I dyed it, the print didn't take the dye, and it just popped right off the fabric! I love when...

Bridget Riley Inspired Dress

I found this vintage bed sheet at an amazing local retail store that I love! Isn't it all kinds of awesome! This store has new clothing, bags, socks, kid stuff, vintage clothing, cards, jewelry, everything I love!  They seem to have looked into my brain, because I love everything in that place!  This store is called called Moxie. Unfortunately they are closing their doors  after the first of the year to take on other life adventures.... so sad, but I understand. Life goes on! Check out  MOXIE  !!! At least you can enjoy this wonderful store for a little bit longer! As soon as I saw that sheet a lightbulb appeared over my head, and I purchased that sheet as fast as I could say OP ART! I teach high school art, and I do a unit on POP, and OP art. This will be perfect for that unit. I have to turn it into some kind of clothing though. It would get very messy as a table cloth, and I don't think my administrators would appreciate my tog...

My husband and I were meeting some besties (Kelly and Mike) for a lovely weekend lunch in the big city, and we decided to wander through Nordstrom since we were a bit early. I saw this cute clutch, and I thought "How adorable"! I picked it up, saw the price, and almost threw it across the mall like it was a bag o' poo on fire! I'll get to the price in one second.... So cute! It looks like an owl right? Or possibly a "Skecksie"                                                       This is a"Skecksie". (The Dark Crystal)                                                 Ya Know Jim Henson!!! Puppets!! I love it!! I digress...... It's a real live Fendi bag. Can you see the price?
